trailer towing

i am hearing rumors about the DOT giving us guys a hard time towing our tractors. i'm sure this question has been asked before but i have not seen it. And i tryed to search the DOT regs but hit a maze of webs. What are the regs guys are having trouble with? log book? other requirements? Does anyone have a link to what we need to know? just pulling a trailer with a pickup truck?
