I have and regularly use a utility trailer that has tandem 3500 lb. axles and is rated at 7000 lbs. capacity. If your trailer has two 3500 lb. axles I don't understand why the rating is only 5000 GVW. Anyhow, I have hauled tractors weighing as much as 6400 lbs. on my trailer and wasn't too worried, the single axle trailer brakes worked and I was pulling the trailer with a F-250 3/4 T. Ford pickup with a 460 engine. This truck has good healthy brakes and will take quite a lot of tongue weight before "squatting" very much. In my book, trailer capacity is affected by what you're using to pull the trailer with too, along with the reccommended trailer GVW. With my rig, I wouldn't be afraid to haul a 5000 lb. tractor anywhere if the roads are decent.
