I overhauled the PTO unit on my 766 which is similar to yours. I spent several dollars on the overhaul kit and two days labor for two of us in the shop. It gets pretty involved or at least I thought it did. I had an I&T service manual and followed it step by step. There were some specialized tools and things I didn't have and I had to improvise to get by without them. Looking back in hindsight I should have just pulled the unit out and took it to the IH dealer and let him do a rebuild. I have a neighbor that is a heavy equipment mechanic and runs several big IH tractors and he says he pulls the unit out of his and takes it to the dealer. I know this will be more expensive but I would do more research if I were you before starting repairs yourself. Good Luck!!!!!!
