I admit that no one has ever agreed with my repair method, but it has worked for me all 3 times I have used it. Access to the leak is important, tank removal may be necessary. Sand by hand with 80 grit or coarser paper to shiny metal a couple of inches beyond any bad area. Clean the sanded area with lacquer thinner. Use the slowest curing- 24 hour cure is best- clear epoxy that you can find. Do not use filled epoxy such as JB Weld. Mix epoxy per directions and spread thin layer over the cleaned area. Place brown paper on the epoxy and work out all air bubbles- grocery bag paper is fine. Coat that paper with more epoxy-make sure no area is missed- and apply another layer of paper. Work out all air bubbles again. Coat it throughly with epoxy for outer layer protection. Cure at about 70 deg. for 48 hours. I think JC Whitney sells new tanks for this truck. So the choice to repair or replace is available.
