We saw, from our bedroom window, two coyotes stalking our neighbor's dog one morning. My wife yelled at it while I ran out with a handgun but, unfortunately, didn't get a shot. Stalked them all day but couldn't find their den. Did scare up three deer, though. Since we live in a suburban area, I called the city, county, etc and they all said the same thing, surprisingly: shoot, but safely. They had had almost daily occurrences (sp?) of coyotes stalking children on the playground of a nearby elementary school, and were preparing to hire a professional trapper/exterminator! I keep my Casull in .22 mag handy for this sort of thing. It's a great caliber for coyotes and cougar! Shotguns are too loud for our neighborhood (ha!).
