Got 1 over the axle and 1 2" fwd. Both do fine, like the 2" better. Be careful with your loads on the plate. Used to have one like that and wound up bending the plate. Use 10" c channel, notched out and welded to the frame, c down with a pc of 8" c channel , cup welded inside. Cut out an put a pc od sch 40 2" pipe through both and welded top and bottem with a 30,000# drop in ball (not threaded). Regularly scale 32,000-35,000 gcvw, no probs (I know I'm way over weight). More worried about stopping it than pulling it.
