I posted this note on the John Deere board previously. I've only had one responce so far, from a helpful fellow who remembered it from the seventies... Anyway, I'll try again here: Long ago my father gave me a hat (cap) that he acquired when buying a new tractor. To the best of my memory, it had the slogan "John Deere Pacesetter Engines" on it. It was old, even when he gave it to me (and in a style not used for caps anymore). It was yellow with green writing on the patch. Anyway, it was stolen a few years back (with lots of other stuff) when my house was broken into. I'd sure like to have another one, but can find no references to when this slogan was used, etc. Any ideas? Why is this slogan so little known? Was it just for irrigation engines or something?
