RE: looking over right shoulder; have you ever wondered why the pull-type equipment A-C built for this and other tractors of that era had the heads/gatherers to the left of the tractor? May not have had anything to do with operator comfort, but it was a fact of life. Remember my Dad cutting silage with a one-row A-C cutter (model 50????) and a WD. In really good corn (for that era; 20 plus tons per acre) cutter was overloaded even with tractor in 1st gear. Would basically "ride" the hand clutch all day. That clutch was pretty much indestructible.
