I farm with and collect both JD and AC. I don't know what uses you would have for a tractor, but am partial to the WD45 and D17. JD 70 is bigger, and if you don't need the power, why buy it? 2 cylinder tractors have more uneven power on belt and pto work due to fewer cylinders, and the hand clutch is jerky compared to the AC hand clutch and power director. For loader work, the JD is a pain- no easy shifter. D17 would be my choice- eight speeds plus live pto and hydraulics with the power director, good stability with the low profile, sturdy engines with snappy governors. Parts availability are good with AC, IH, JD, and the JD has the unique sound of a two cylinder. Get one now- they are like oatmeal cookies or potato chips- can't stop with one!
