Customer service is a joke they are too big to care and most support people don’t know how things work well enough to advise you. If it’s not on their computer screen they are lost and don’t care that you (the customer) are confused and frustrated.

It’s funny this question came up today because I spent 45 minutes on the phone with them yesterday and 1-1/2 hours today. Today I kept getting the “I can’t help you but I will connect you” click…dial tone. Then when I called and waded through their “automated call routing” the lady said, “we can’t transfer you but I can give you the 800 number”. Well I was given that story 3 times until I finally got the correct number and department the fourth time, I think? I’ll see in a week, maybe?

The only thing that can change this is competition and I know that Fed Ex and the USPS have cut in to UPS’s package volume and that they are concerned. But us average folks won’t hear that Big Brown is concerned. I say Go Fed Ex!!

Although I will always ship via the currier of my customer’s choice, I let them know that they do have options that have advantages over UPS and cost is usually the deciding factor.

And that is my way of diplomatically saying that unions have out lived their usefulness in the American economy. We are now competing globally, so we need to put true productivity, value and pride back in our products and services.
