Tractor Road Trips

I just wanted to express how this hobby has expanded to site seeing. In the last 14 months, I have taken 5 trips to pick up tractors, parts or deliver tractors. Each one of these trips my 2 boys, age 14 and 10, have accompanied me on. They are really learning to appreciate my searching this site every night for items I cannot do without. The first trip was from our home, East of Boulder, Colorado to Salina KS, in Nov 2001, this was to pick up a loader for my fathers 53 Farmall Cub. Then in March of 2002 we went to Lincoln NE and met Tim from Minnisota in a Flying J truck stop and I traded My 53 Farmall Super C for his 54 Farmall Super MTA. Trip to Bridgeport NE in May to pick up a wide front end and a 2 point hitch for the SMTA. Labor Day week-end 2002, had us off to Canada north of International Falls, Minnisota. We delivered 2 parts tractors on the way in Minnisota and once in Canada we picked up a 55 Farmall 300 that my son figured he needed to restore. The last trip to Bowman, ND to pick up a 450 Farmall parts tractor was a new experience, my wife came along with us for the first time. Maybe she needed to see what the boys were doing that was so much fun. I must say that the trip with my wife although fun was not quite the same. We packed more, changed our clothes more often and had to act more civilized. She asked me on the way is this tractor going to be a surprise, is it something I'm sorry I came with you to get. I explained that it will not look much like a tractor but it has apart in it that I need for my SMTA. Well when we pulled up and I said there it is she laughed and said and that's what we drove 500 miles for, fortunately she was kidding. It turned out to be a great trip, we stopped at Mt Rushmore and the boys got to do the tourist routine. Are there any others that have found this tractoring to be a way to get out and meet new people and find how great the people in this wonderful country are?
