If I were in your shoes, I would evaluate all options before making such a decision. If so inclined, go to college and enlist in ROTC. You will graduate as an officer, and gain invaluable leadership skills for jobs in civilian life. If college doesn't work out for you, by all means enlist. Just know what you are doing. Take what recruiters say with a grain of salt, and read all fine print. Some unscrupulous recruiters will promise the world to meet quotas. Know that you will be pushed further than you ever have in life while at training (as said before, you will hate it during but love the experience afterward). Also be ready to put up with a lot of bs (varies by service). Just a final bit of advice: if I were to enlist, my first choice would be AirForce followed by Navy and then Marine Corps. AirForce will train you in high demand jobs transferrable to civilian life.
