Hi folks. I'm sitting here in Denmark, where the Valmets are almost everywhere.
The answer to whether it is a good loader tractor probably can be divided into two: basic mechanics and operational loading.
The Valmet tractor is born a Volvo, in the late 70' and into the 80' this was not a Mercedes, but a Rolls Royce.
Mechanically they were made to last, and nothing else could be compared to a Volvo, especially the models 600 and 810. Valmet bought the Volvo factory and knowhow, and maybe some of the greatness is left in nowadays Valtra.
Second, loading is not exactly the kind of job a 100 hp Valtra/Valmet likes. It needs at least one ton of extra weight on the rear axle compared to eg a Maxxum, Fendt or Renault. Experience told us that, testing a 100 hp new Valtra against a 7 years old 90 hp Renault it failed totally in handling the loader. It ended with a Case Maxxum, working its second year with a big Stoll loader.
Regards from scandinavia,
Chr.
