I dont know where you are all from but i am from central missouri and no one here in this state i know of has ever had to pass a test or an age limit for tractor driving, My son is 8 years old and his dad started teaching him at the age of 5 how to drive on a super c it made me nervous as heck to see him on it but he did really good. At 8 years old he knows how to drive a super c and an m farmall and a 756 international tractor (something i dont even know how to do myself) but i wont let him work with the farming nor will i let him pull in a tractor pull but it is good to teach them how to operate the machinary incase we do need there help sometime and he thinks it is so cool on a day with nothing to do to ask his dad if he can take the tractor for a drive he has 40 acres to practice on and doesnt take it on the high way i feel as if it teaching him to be responsible and having him learn to respect the machinary and letting him know it isnt a toy but something that needs care and a watchful eye.

While I love straightening sheet metal, cleaning, and painting old tractors, I use every excuse to avoid working on the on the electrics. I find the whole process sheer mystery. I have picked up and attempted to read every auto and farm electrics book with no improvement in the situation. They all seem to start with a chapter entitled "Theory of Electricity". After a few paragraphs I usually close the book and go back to banging out dents. A good friend and I were recently discussing our tractor electrical systems when he stated "I figure it all comes back to applying Ohms Law". At this point ... [Read Article]
