At age 12 my father gave me the keys to a brand new 8N for my birthday. He wanted to keep me interested in the farm and the farm needed another tractor anyway. It sure got a lot of work done during my teen years. At 13 I won the county 4-H tractor driving contest and at 15 came in 2nd in the state. Later on, when I was a 4-H leader, one of my club members was backing a spreader into a low shed and his foot slipped off an icy clutch. The steering wheel pinned him to the top of the door and he was killed instantly. He was 17. Age has little to do with it except where there are regulations. Mechanical ability, judgement, experience, conditions, all enter in. Happy New Year. Farmered
