Jeff, To get the big flakes and crud out, you can put gravel, bolts, nuts, chains in the tank with a acidic solution - like vinegar - and tumble it around. Next you'll want to flush that junk and make the rust inert with an etch solution. Most of them are some sort of concoction of phosphoric acid. When that's done its magic, the inside of the tank will be black. (if you're like to experiment, you could try the electrolysis method. You can search the forum here to learn more about that.) If you want to seal it afterwards, POR-15 is one of the big names, as it Hirsch auto, the link is below. Have fun with it! Steve
