Brad, I too am a young farmer (from Indiana) at the age of 22. I can pretty much guarantee that schooling will not help you very much. My highschool offered the Ag vocational classes and FFA which I elected to take and found it to be usless, other than the extra time I spent in the shop. Think about it, and I am sure that anyone who ever has worked on a piece of equipment can back me up on this, Those engineers and such who go to school to learn things are only book smart. They design these things by the book and in the real world they have no clue to what is going on. The same applies to farming, it is a hands on learning experience. Learning from the book isn't gonna teach you much. I have been ridiculed by several of the old timers here about not going to college (seeing as I graduated in the top ten in my class) and my response is either, I use all my knowledge on the farm so it isn't really being wasted or I tell them, Hey somebody has to do it and I like it so it might as well be me. Anyways, the best thing would be to learn from grandpa and get into farming. But remember that nowadays it isn't just the work you have to do but also the paper work, the marketing, the decisions, and all the rules and crap the government has us following, including this new farm bill and all the other gov. programs there are. It is hard to stay in the business. However, goodluck and keep us posted. Shane

In our particular hobby, we enjoy the nostalgic return to the days of our youth as we recreate many of the scenes that took place on the family farm that served as the stage for the first few acts of the play that is our live
