I am 18. We farm/ranch 10,000 acres on the plains in Montana. Development is not a problem here except in the moutain regions. I feel your wrath over land develop. On my farm, you can stand on top of a hill and look all around you and see nothing but more farmland, pasture, and the Rocky Mountains. The only buildings you see are other farms. I went to Minnesota and through the twin cities awhile back. It just burned my up seeing all these houses and malls popping up in the country.

I guess you can say I am lucky. Our farm is big enough righ now to where 3 people can be kept busy. My father, my uncle, and me. I am the 4th generation on my farm and someday I want to take over which is the reason why I enrolled in college.

There was no ag classes in my school either. I learned what I could from my father and hands on experience. Now I am enrolled in Montana State University of Northern which has lots of Ag classes and Ag degrees along with a really good and famous diesel program. My major is AOT (Ag Operations Technology). I would try to find a college with ag classes. I would also try to find work your grandparents farm or some other farm to get experience. Besides helping on the farm, I also farm about 160 acres by myself with equipment from the 60s and 50s.
