My OM for my 730, 4020, and 2440 say pretty much the same thing, and it seems pretty clear to me, that hitching a load to ANYPLACE except the designed hitch point is folly. Pulling a stump with a chain attached anywhere else is just ASKING for the tractor to flip over on top of you. I actually witnissed this very thing, when it happened to my Father, nearly 40 years ago. If my mother had not asked him , only a minute befor, what he would do if the tractor flipped, it MIGHT have pinned him underneith. DON't be foolish. My father was new to tractors, it was a 1950 JD MT. He never tried to pull stumps like THAT again. PLEASE don't try this at home!
