Yes the 660 did have major problems. The 660 rear ends did not hold up, the 560 either. My book on history of IHC tells all about the the 560 and 660 rearend problems. I would type the problems on here for you, but my brother inlaw has borrowed my book. The 660 diesel also broke crankshafts, the gas engine did not.
