: : : : : I am looking for information about a Tuff-bilt tractor built in Cummings Ga by tri Tractor Mfg. Co. Inc. When were they built? How many were built? and what happened to the company. cannot locate them??? Thanks for the help

: : : : Carol, as I understand, the company is gone. I'm told most of their production was export though a few remained here. You probably already know that it was patterned after the G Allis-Chalmers except it had a little diesel engine. Many thought it a better tractor than the G. I think it had an automatic transmission or torque converter or some such. I have a good friend in Cumming who told me about them. That's about all I know, maybe it will help some. Have a good day. John

: : : Thanks for the information, it is more than I knew before. I did know it resembled the G Allis but didn't know anything else about it. Thanks again

: : Carol, my friend also told me the demise of the company was financial and mis-management. Some thought perhaps they should have concentrated more on the domestic market. The folks I talked to agree it was a "tougher" tractor than Allis-Chalmers' G, and the automatic drive, whatever it was, was really nice. For a time, and perhaps still, there were some bits and pieces of tractors left in the Cumming area but the general consensus is they are mostly all gone although there are a few of the tractors still in use in the area I'm told. Have a good day. John

: I've been told were several of these tractors in and around the Muscatine Iowa area have you or anyone else heard this. Carol
Carol,
Are you still looking for information about these tractors, My brother in law has one with the diesel engine and several booklets on the critter.

Today's Featured Article - Identifying Tractor Smells - by Curtis Von Fange. We are continuing our series on learning to talk the language of our tractor. Since we can’t actually talk to our tractors, though some of the older sect of farmers might disagree, we use our five physical senses to observe and construe what our iron age friends are trying to tell us. We have already talked about some of the colors the unit might leave as clues to its well-being. Now we are going to use our noses to diagnose particular smells. ELECTRICAL SMELLS ... [Read Article]
