We have a 1270 case powershift on our farm and it is a reliable tractor. The 1070 should have about 100-110 HP. We had our powershift overhauled about three years ago. In the 1270 there is 5 or 6 bolts that hold the powershift clutch pack together and all but two of these had broke and the tractor was not shifting properly. We have a buddy that used too work at a case dealership before they bought IH. He claims that the powershift in the 70 series tractors is one of best built transmissions from the seventies. Remember this is was he claims, although I have yet to disprove what he says. Our tractor is fairly easy to service and has definetly been a very reliable unit on our farm. My dad sneared at the idea of owning a Case tractor when my grandfather purchased it. He soon grew to love the powershift in the tractor and would like to have a smaller tractor with one in it, and my dad is a diehard IH man. I like the engine in it, it is a slower speed engine which makes it lug well and last longer than a high speed engine. If the tractor is reasonably priced and in decent shape I would say go for it. Keep us updated.
