I found it best to keep copper wire out of Washing soda solution as they decay quickly. I put the front grill from My I-4 in a 20 gallon tub for 1 week with paint on it. Paint would scrub off with scour pad after that. you should have about 2-4 inches between electrode and piece to be cleaned. if the copper wire to the piece to be cleaned turns green then you have the charger hooked up backwards. I followed link below for my first time it is helpful and informative. 2.5 amps seems low to me a good cleaning usually starts out around 7-8 amps and ends around 1-3 amps. follow the others advice on size of electrode. Old VCR and computer cases work well for me as electrodes but that is what i have in abundance.
