Of domestic trees, Black Walnut is the premier. My experience is that the Forestry Service people usually price it unrealistically high, so if you have them value it for you, expect to be disapointed at what is offered by buyers. That said, when you are dealing with buyers, make sure they know they are not the only one bidding. If one tells you your trees aren`t worth much, he may be right, but don`t take his word for that. Get as many buyers to look as you can, because(you are going to find this hard to believe)some of them will lie. No one person can tell you what they are worth. Price depends on quality and market. Take some time, check around(as others have suggested)and be comfortable with any deal you make before you sign the contract. Letting the trees stand a while longer isn`t going to cost anything and may actually make you money.
