I agree with what's been said already here and on "Paint" discussion group too. I was planning to sandblast my FE35 earlier this year and looked into it. My conclusions were that I'd need a huge compressor and advice was that the small ones with 1/8 inch nozzles would be desperately slow. I though about getting a commercial blaster to do it for me and figured they might not be too careful about what and where they blasted so decided against that too. Hiring was expensive too. I ended up stripping all parts off the tractor and going over all the castings with a wire brush mounted in a small angle grinder. It cleaned up really well and those that saw it bare said I wouldn't have got any better a job with a sandblaster. Also there was no risk of sand in the innards which I think has got to be a real danger. Where the grinder didn't fit I used a drill with decarbonising wire brush. It did take a lot of time though. I treated the castings with a rust treatment (which might prove a mistake) then an etch primer before the paint stages. I think I will try to get the tinwork blasted though as I think the wire brush may not do as good a job on it and might also tend to polish the tin too much - but then again I may just carry on with the brush, sandpaper rust treat and etch it!
