I have a 1989 18 HP with a Briggs motor. Most of the motors will run about 1000 hours before they burn oil and need replaced. Motors are basically not worth rebuilding when you look at the price of parts. My tractor has the 3 speed hi and 3 low range unit. It is a heavy duty axle and has done well with snow blade and small disc. I have 23 inch tractor rib tires with wheel weights. Father in law has the 16 HP with the 5 speed light duty axle. Has a few problems with heavy loads. Transmission cant take the big pulls.
