Here's the short answer: You are right on the
bubble, where either will work well for you.
More hp or more heavy plowing & a diesel
would be better. More winter work or smalled
tractor, & an old gas would be simpler for
you... You will note there are no more gas tractors,
of any size.... A gas tractor needs much more attention with
the whole electrical system, &
points/plugs/etc. replacement. However this is
simple, can be done by you. The diesel will
run 3-5 times longer without any service,
however those servives are more costly &
might have to be done by a pro. Winter is an issue of diesel, however a good
frost plug heater & you are good to go, I use
mine at 10 below, takes 2 hours on the tank
heater... Do you just love to do your own engine work,
and you are familiar with gas engines? Go
that route. Do you want to get your hay done, & you don't
want to fool around with down time & point
adjustment? Get diesel. Like I say, you are right on the bubble, can't
