Hydraulic system problems...HELP!

I went to pick up my David Brown 885G today, but ran into a small problem. The current owner had hooked up the shredder and tested everything out before I got there. All was well. He test shredded an area with it to enure everything was setup ok. I started up tractor to bring it home and the hydraulics were acting funny. Lifted the shredder all the way up and now it won't go back down. The current owner had a new valve put into it when he was refurbishing the tractor (it was contracted work by someone else). He showed me the old valve and it is obvious the valve body on the tractor is new, so I don't doubt his word. He seems to think that the installer did not put a load on the hitch and make adjustments to the valve settings when he did the install. Does this sound right, or do you think there is some other sinister, probably major hydraulic problem? I've already paid for the tractor, but the owner has agreed to take it back to the shop monday and fix it....I am just afraid I'll get the tractor back, use it for a week or so and start having probs again. Thoughts?
