Two 12 volt batteries [each has 500 CCA] connected in parallel will give you 12 volts and 1,000 CCA. Two 6 volt 500 CCA connected in series will give you 12 volts and only 500 CCA. When batteries are equal you can not get an increase in both voltage and capacity. Parallel will give more capacity and series will give you more pressure [voltage].
