Hey Ed,
That sounds a little pricy to me but it depends on several things, quality of the trailer being one and the options.
Some things to think about.
A 8N Ford and a 5' mower will have the tailwheel on the mower hang off the back of the trailer on a 16 footer so in my opinion I would look at a 18'.
A tractor with a front end loader will also take up the whole trailer on a 16' leaving no room for any type of implement except for something short like a boxblade and possibly not even that.
If you ask me, and you did not, a 16' is a bit short for my purposes, I like a 21' myself but that is just me. I would say 18 at a minimum for dealing with tractors.
For $2500 I would be looking at gooseneck trailers, especially if you are gonna haul a tractor with a front end loader, just put the bucket on top of the gooseneck. Werks like a champ.
Around my area you can get a 16' tongue pull trailer with pipe top and brakes on one axle for around $1100 plus all the taxes.
JMHO,
K

Last niht I dreamed about the day that I plowed the field of about 10 acres over on what Jimmy and Dandy called the Ledbetter field. I was driving the 1948 8N Ford tractor that Jimmy bought in 48 new This was prebably in about 1951 and maybe even befor the house was built. This would have made me to be about16 years old and I drove the tractor for nothing and would have paid to drive it if I had had any money which I didn't, but neit ... [Read Article]
