I bought a 2290 Case 4+4, that had a fire under the cab ,Just luck the hired man saw a light when they were done Milking one night [January of 1993] I redid it in 1994, Do to Electric Chopper Control's / No Fuse's or Curcit breaker. It burned every thing under the Cab[bacause it shorted out and got in to the Wiring Harness, witch whent over next to the Plastic Fuel Line[witch makes a good Hot Fire[the heat Warped the 1/2 inch thick rail be side the Engine, Bacuse of this it was Totaled Poasable Engine Damage[ I have never had any truble with it],Her are some of the things repaired or replaced,Hood,[ Fiber Glass] radator, streeing hoses and valve[resealed it],the cab inside was hot enought to disfiger all the plastic[was able to save the hour meter,it did not burn any thing in the cab, it still work's to this day]I had to re do every hose ,and reseal the valves, under the Cab. The tractor was totaled by the Insurance Company, I bought it for $4500 [from the farmer who owned it ] and spent $4500 more just to make it Usable for myself,to finsh it ,I think about $2500 more. Do you know WHY It BURNED, Rember there poeple who Use a Fire to Cover up other Problems, on the tractor they Can't Aford to repair, or the Payments on it or other things they need Money for that are not Insured. I have seen this done on tractors that have went to a local salvage yard. Do one thing before you go a head and buy it /get a Cost on the parts /New and Used /that you need [the ones you can see damaged, then Figger the cost Of Your Labor and see how the total cost looks then? I wood do another tractor if i Knew why if burned and how bad. Good luck with your choice
