You may be somewhat correct in what you say but I think many of these tractors were purchased here long before the new generation was introduced. There was a certain demand here for wide rubber on large tractors. There were a lot of Model R's with (18/26) 23.1/26 rubber. None of these had any shields over the brake drums and maybe even the ricers didn't either. There were also a good number of 820's and 830's with the 23.1/26 rubber and all the 820's and 830's I have seen have had the brake shields or at least the correct backing plate to hold the shield. Massey Harris sold the 55 and the 555 as a special model called the "Western Special". These tractors all had 23.1/26 (old number 18/26) tires. Most had a hand clutch and the platform was wider. There were also WR9's here. The WR9's were equipped with 18.4/34 tires and had a hand clutch.
