I have a good friend who has a 99 Dodge with a 24 valve Cummins and an automatic transmission with a chip and other modifications. The way it is set up it is suppose to be putting out 510 HP. He did take out the torque converter after 285 miles pulling a 24 ft horse trailer taking his cows out of the pasture last fall. He has over 20000 more miles with out any more problems. The shop who turned his Dodge up won't put a chip in now with out putting in a full pressure lock up kit on. After diving his truck (before and after it was chipped) I don't know why any one would want any diesel other than the Dodge with Cummins diesel, they have so much more torque. Plus they sound so like a real diesel should.
