Well, the 6v will be dead dead, not just run down, after 3 years??? So best to get a new one, 98% chance you'll need it anyhow. Jumping with a 12v can be done directly to the starter, but the coil & points & all will need juice, and they _won't_ like getting 12v - will last about 20 minutes in my experience before burning up (mechnic forgot the resistor on an engine swap for me...). You sure don't want to involve the 6v generator with the 12v battery. So, I'm thinking jumping with a 12v is not a good idea in your case. That works when the 6v battery is too low to turn the starter, but has enough juice to fire the plugs. You just hook up to the starter for brief periods with the 12v, not get any of the other electrical involved. Keep in mind the positive ground, however you go about it. Starting either is not good for an engine, but see if you can get it to fire with that. The carb might be quite a varnished mess, may have to clean that all out. Then again, might fire right up, it's all a crap shoot. If it's not gummed up, the gravity feed should get fuel to the carb for you. Anything with a mechanical pump would need some priming to get the float bowl full. I've heard sometimes oil seals dry out, & you'll have some engine leaks when one sits so long. Don't really know on that? --->Paul
