The MMO was developed for use in the GMC truck factories in the 20's and 30's to get rid of the varnish and gum in Marvel-Schebler carburetors. When they came into the factory with problems(due to poor grades of gasoline) or for a rebuild, the workers would use it to clean the carbs, but they didn't know how or why it worked;just that it worked. They all would sit around and speculate about what was in it ,but the makers of MMO kept its contents a secret, lest the competitors find out,so its contents remained a "Mystery". So the GMC factory boys started calling it MARVEL (Schebler) MYSTERY OIL.It was originally called something else, but the marketing dept.liked the "Mystery" part. So,that's where it got it's name BillJ
