When we first got this old Ford 8N 195? tractor, it started and worked a few days and then it would no longer start. We got it a carburetor kit and then a battery because it became so weak as we were trying to get it started. We got it started but it shot alot of oil with gas from somewhere and we immediately turned it off. We emptied the oil out and filled it with new oil. Again, it started and worked for a day or so. After that it would not start again. It cranked fine but never tried to start up. We were told the coil was burned. So we got a new coil but it melted! What could've caused this??!! Could this have happened from charging a battery with battery cables using a 12 volt battery? The tractor battery is only a 6 volt. We will install another coil this weekend, and see what now. Anyone have any suggestions that can help, besides taking it in to have it repaired?! We would really appreciate it. Thanks, Mary
