I don't know about the 311 but worked on 268 and 273.All should work similar. If it is slipping out of the knotter before the tying cycle sounds like you have too much tension on the bale and not enouth on the knotter. If its slipping off the knotter while in the tying stage it is the bill hook tension. Does it do it with both or just one bill hook? With the tractor turned off and the baler pto out of gear Try turning the flywheel by hand in direction of work (Arrow on flywheel) and trip the knotter (KEEP HANDS AWAY FROM KNOTTER)watch the knotter go through the cycle and observe both one should be doing something different. Maybe a different clearence or faster turn. The plates under the knotter also have to be in time.
