tranny oil leak

I recently purchased a JD 5020 that had been sitting about 4 years. After I started using it it developed a leak fron the tranny in to the clutch area. Before I split this to replace the seal I was woundering if any one has had any success with the oil stop leak product you add to oil to stop leaks. The transmission holds 16 gal so I would probably need a lot?
