Folks ask for assistance and then unwilling to share in the costs.

An acquaintence of ours just bought 6 acres of brush property. Asked for prices to have land cleared and refused all for a variety of reasons. Asked me to look at it. I agreed to do "what I could" (veryyy brushy) with the following understanding.

My Costs for sawing, weed whacking & bush hog services

a) No labor, just sweet tea & supper for ea. day's work
b) fuel for the tractor
c) saw gas for whatever sawing/weed wacking I would need to do (cut trails to see)
d) I pay 50% for any damages I cause to his place
e) He pay 50% for any damages I cause to his place
f) He pay 50% for any damages done to my equip, I pay the other 50%
g) clear enough to get a lay off the land to decide next steps

All started well and we found the survey monuments. Now we had a lay of the land and also understanding of how to navigate 10' drainage ditch running thru the property. Supper could've been better but HEY!

Now then on Sunday I was debating fishing or tractor driving. I chose to do some more tractor work. .

Well, I found out some interesting things
a) Sugar sand (fine) is as bad as mud
b) somehow yanked my bush hog A-frame apart (busted weld)
c) A man's word is not the best policy

Needless to say I am out cost for the repair ($30) and he wants to return and "finish" the job. He cannot move his mobile home in until I get the land "cleared" and I am his delay. Grrr. . .

Given his actions Sunday he may get me coming over with my backhoe and knock it all down, push it in a pile, cut the black jack for my BBQ, and burn what's left. Irks me when you try to help out and get burned . . .
