Hi Sod, No the extra weight from the man added nothing to the problem other than it was unsafe. Another 1ft, 1" or 2" of boom down would have also caused the boom colaspe. It was the owner fudging the charts from getting ragged on from my boss on the amount of weight that this crane could safely handle with the amount of stick that was required. The CO did not stand up to his boss when he changed the game plan of adding jib boom in place of main boom. The jib boom could not handle that weight at that distance. Reading thru the squence that I stated it apparent that I seen the boom colaspe then seen the main line whip, but in my mind it didn't happen in that order. Funny how a guy remembers something.
