We NEVER used any over-running clutch, and here's why... IF you run up on something unforseen, or a kid ( etc.) happens to get too close, you can Jerk the clutch out, and STAND on the brakes....you will stop that mower in a second.... Combining soybeans w/ the "B" was the same... if ya saw a rock going up the canvas, you could stop the combine before the rock got to the cylinder... Otherwise, you can't stop the equipment, and it just keeps on coasting..in an emergency...seems like forever... Same procedure goes for the AC WD, using the foot clutch, and brakes... And YES you CAN shift gears this way w/ a "B".. if the clutch brake is well worn, and you learn to use the throttle to "slip" the gears...
