Case DC tractor started running very poorly, and only hitting on one cylinder about 6 months ago. I neglected it until yesterday. New restoration and it ran fine for about a year. Took off carb, and it was clean as a whistle, checked valve clearence, timing, gear meshing, EVERTHING. Heres the weird part. I was letting it run on one cylinder and was getting mad. Jerked off the other three spark plug wires, which by the way, were all sparking well. as i did this, it sputtered as one of the wires was being pulled away, and threw about a 1 inch spark. So a buddy and I held the three spark plug wires away form the spark plugs, and as they arched in my sight, it ran fine. I know it sounds like my timing is off, but it isn't, I have rotated the magneto and everything. Mag was proffesionally rebuilt 2 years ago. Help. Could it be that the wires are too hot for the mag? They are modern wires, so I put on some old/new ones that i had and still no difference. Any suggestions. Remember, timing and firing order are okay, and spark plugs are new.
