In one of my books "International Tractors 1955 to 1984" it talks a little bit about the 460 and 560. Has anybody read this book? It says that the 560 had an under designed rear end and that IH had a massive recall program on the 560. It also says that sales of the 560 dropped from about 22,000 to around 6,000 in a couple of years. Does anybody remember this? This happend right around the time John Deere introduced the 4010. Was this the reason why IH lost their top spot to JD in the early 60's and could never regain it. I am not bashing IH. I like all tractors. I'm also interested in the history of farm companies. I would just like to know if the 560 rear end problems brought the house down on IH.
