It's all supply and demand. More people want the little compacts over a 70 hp tractor. I experience a similar issue when buying my first older tractor. I had recently purchased 40 acres and needed a tractor to maintain it. I was looking for a 25 to 35 horsepower utility. But so was everybody else and they were being sold for twice what I paid for my Farmall 560.
