I have my own shop, as I'm a self employed mold maker. Doing this tractor stuff, it's essential to have at least an old Bridgeport, a lathe, a Roll-in saw, and a welder. I don't use my surface grinder very often on tractor stuff, but I can grind my own valves on it. I have heads sent out for shaving, and cut the valve seats, but I do the rest. As for being able to make money from other people is a laugh. People think nothing of sending their car in for repair, or call out a plumber and pay a $60 shop rate, but if you ask for $30-40 per hour, these same people will scream. I work only with companies, not individuals off the street.
