Steve.........I lost a lot of my hi-freq from measles in high school 1955. Couldn't understand why the guys in TV repair class were complaining about the buzz (horizontal transformer freq is 15,750 Hz) and the squeeking chalk on the blackboard didn't squeek anymore.

Professionally, I lived in an headsetted intercomm world where you responded to a "call-sign" on the net and kinda ignorred the other conversations. My ex-wife and I used to have terrible arguements about my not listening to her when we were innna car driving somewhere. I claimed she just needed to get my attention first with somesort of callsign like honey, sweetie, hey you SOB, just sumpthin and I'd be glad to talk to her about anything she wanted.

I always came in on the last part of her talkin' and would say what? and she'd repeat the last few words. He!!, I'd heard them, what are we talking about? Usually, it was something innocent like the grass is greener on this side of the fence. I think she couldn't stand silence. But she ABSOLUTELY would not get my attention first.

She insisted I needed hearing aides. Yeah right, I gott'em. I could hear the turnsignal klicker click in the car as long as the car was not moving, the minute the car started making wind noise, couldn't hear nuttin again. But we still had the same ol'communications problems, she wouldn't get my attention first.

She'd stand on the porch and beller like a fishmongers wife at me while driving the tractor out in the pasture. I could see her but couldn't hear her with my aides turned off and mickymouse ears on. I'd come bouncin' back onnna the tractor to findout what the problem was. I of course, had to first take my wet clothes and dirty boots off before I could go innna the house to find her to ask her what the problem was. Usually a non-important telephone call. TAKE A MESSAGE WOMAN......sheesh....

Today, the weather inspired me to do some tree limbing witha chainsaw and ladder. This past Christmas, my 19 yo son got me one of those orange woodcutters safety hats with built in earmuffs (which worked great) and face screen. How long does it take ya ta learn NOT TO SPIT with the screen down? I hose cleaned the screen 3 times. (grin)

I observe alotta guys cuppen their hands behind their ears. They'll wear eyeglasses but vanity? keeps'em from wearing hearing aides. BOTTOM LINE, if'n ya need hearing aides, gettem.........Dell, who wears'em even if'n he ain't gott nobody to listen to

Today's Featured Article - Choosin, Mounting and Using a Bush Hog Type Mower - by Francis Robinson. Looking around at my new neighbors, most of whom are city raised and have recently acquired their first mini-farms of five to fifteen acres and also from reading questions ask at various discussion sites on the web it is frighteningly apparent that a great many guys (and a few gals) are learning by trial and error and mostly error how to use a very dangerous piece of farm equipment. It is also very apparent that these folks are getting a lot of very poor and often very dangerous advice fro ... [Read Article]
