Glenn and Lyle, the tractor that you are both referring to was not a forerunner of John Deere but was in fact made by JD. It was made around 1916-1918. They made about 200 of them before they recalled all of them back to be destroyed. The man that owns the one that was at the penns cave show is a Mr. Hanson and he is from Minn.. He purchased his Dain all wheel drive around 1960 for 1000 dollars, it was the 79th one made and is the most original one known to exist today. The only part that is not original is the radiator cap which he had reproduced from pictures of the original. He had the tractor appraised by an apraiser of old automobiles, and they estimated it to be worth 1.6 million dollars. He says that he is not going to sell this tractor because he fears it may fall into the wrong hands. It was actually released from the smithstonian institute for a national tour. It definitely was an interesting piece to see and remember. I am a member of that organization Mr. Oakes, what did you think of our show.
