You should always use straight grade oils in your Farmall C. It was designed for straight grade, not multi-grades. 10-30w is a 10w base with a polymer additive to make it perform like a 30w when warmed up. I would recommend 10w in the winter and 30w in the summer. Also, the best oil for this tractor is Case-IH Low ash oil which was designed for gas tractors and is a high detergent oil. The white or grey in your oil is probably water from condensation if not ran enough to warm up to operating temp. 170-180 degrees. I would recommend a new thermostat from your Case-IH dealer. Bill
