CDL has been federal for several years now, mabey a decade? the same in all states. Class C is normal liscence. Class B required for any vehicle exceeding 26,000 lbs. ( covers all strait trucks) Class A is required if the towed unit (trailer) exceeds 10,000 lbs. (Class A is required to tow most 5th wheel trailers, however it is a "grey" zone as they will not let you use a pickup & 5th wheel trailer to take the road test, they require a semi & trailer! Many people push this law, with out any problems, a good example being RV's they fit the weight for CDL, but most do not have one!) hope this helps
