I read something about this also. Don't remember what the brand was, but I do remember reading an article where a major engine builder was coating the inside of V8 blocks with some sort of "electric motor paint" to seal the surface of the cast iron after it had been "hot-tanked" to remove all residue. Unless your block has lost paint and you simply want it to be as close to original as possible, I'd be reluctant to repaint it. It might be difficult to completely remove all oil residue, and such residue would likely keep the new paint from sticking as planned. I would think any benefits might be marginal unless you have noticed a definite corrosion problem.
